Search Engines are the most important sites on the web. Thousands of investors think the same thing. I used to recommended Hotbot, and Profusion. But now days my favorite search engine is Google, and my favorite meta-search engine is IxQuick. Even if the engines are referring you to sites 2 months old, at least you have some kind of guide with them. Google does seem to update around once every two weeks - at least with this site anyway. I like to do my banking on the web as well. In America I do this at Chase of course. In Australia I primarily use Westpac, and sometimes Commonwealth. For investment I use a few sites. Commonwealth Securities is the best for trading right now in Australia. They charge only $29.95 per transaction. Unfortunately they don't let you trade everything listed on the ASX. Did you know that ASX actually went public? They are the first equities moderator to float on their own exchange! The best, free, charting site I've seen is Equity Cafe - just enter as a guest and you still get the charting facilities. The Trading Room lets me see my portfolio, and how it is doing based current market prices and the rate I bought my shares at. In America I am now using Merrill Lynch Direct. Because of JP Morgan policies I have to use either Merill Lynch or Charles Schwab. Both are expensive in terms of individual trades, but Merrill Lynch Direct does offer some pretty good perks. For development I often go to Javasoft which has lots of good info about Java, and the latest downloads. The best site for new Java is by far AlphaWorks. IBM just have tons of good beans, utilities, compilers, obfuscators - you name it when it comes to Java. I've read in APC that they currently have more than 2000 java devlopers. Lately I have been using Netscape as my browser of choice. I learned how to use Meta Tags which will hopefully get me more hits from search engines. I play a lot of StarCraft on BattleNet, which has been set up by Blizzard. Another great game is Dune2000, which was created by Westwood. It is a modern remake of Dune2 - which was a 486 classic. Playsite is a good Java applet, on-line gaming site. I like to play chess there sometimes. For news I like to go to Wired. They have a service when they mail me every day with some headlines. Slashdot has an interesting interface when it comes to news- as long as you like LINUX propaganda. My favorite tv show is Highlander the Series. It's got quite a cult following, and now has a spin off called The Raven. Unfortunately it is not shown in Australia at this point. Other interesting sights are Metaspy which shows you what kind of things people are searching for.
